Handspun

I'm having the best time with this whole spinning thing.  I feel as if I've gone full circle, starting with knitting, now learning how yarn is made with spinning, and even dying my own fiber.  The only piece that's missing is raising my own animals for the fiber.  Good thing I don't live in an area zoned for farm animals or else I'd have a few cashmere goats grazing on my postage-size suburban lawn.

So the fiber I hand-dyed in the very first photo turned into this...

BFL, colorway "Not So Blue"

and this...

BFL, colorway "Fire Breathing Dragon"

Now to figure out what I can knit up or weave with my handspun.

Lace

I never thought I would take to lace knitting, but I do have to say I enjoyed knitting my latest project, a Shetland Triangle shawl.  One caveat on the lace knitting though:  only with fingering weight or heavier yarn for me.

I started this project on a long plane flight to Europe and finished it on the plane ride back home.  How amazing is that for a not-so-fast knitter?

And what's not to like about another use for all that pretty sock yarn stash?

Pattern:  Shetland Triangle Shawl by Evelyn Clark
Yarn:  Wollmeise 100% fingering weight
Colorway:  Rhabarber
Modifications:  11 repeats of body lace chart with plenty of yarn to spare
